I love a love story. One that permeates our hearts and souls for a lifetime.
Kaylyn & Ethan very much have a story I would declare to be special, one that resonates joy, unconditional love and unyielding adoration for the other.
They chose to begin the life they would share on the banks of a secluded Jenny Lake. A place where time almost stood still, and that it beckoned to us before we even arrived at its shores, that this would be Ethan and Kaylyn’s spot.
I love that Ethan and Kaylyn wanted to do their day just for them. They wanted it to be intimate and memorable in everyday. They started off getting ready, Kaylyn had some of Ethan’s closest friend and family write him letters to make it feel like they were all there in spirit. Taylor (my rock star assistant) and I had spent the morning with Kaylyn at the a salon in Jackson Hole. Kalyn was never without her smile, or sheer giddiness at a Monday in June being the day she would say YES to being Ethan’s wife for forever. Kaylyn and Ethan spent time to write their vows to each other on some incredible calligraphy notes made by my awesome friend Bristen. With both of them dressed and ready to go, we wanted to keep them separated so that they would still have a chance to have a special First Look moment with one another. We wanted to try to bring as much of familiar wedding things to the day but still keeping it uniquely them.
As the afternoon progressed Kaylyn and Ethan decided on a change of scenery to Jenny Lake for where they would say their vows. So we proceeded into the Grand Teton National Park outside of Jackson Hole to scout out a place. As only Jesus could really do, we happened upon this open meadow of wildflowers that led down to an empty spot that seemed to perfect for words. As if it was carved out before time to mold the two of them in its open spaces. It seemed fate had played a perfect symphony for these two.
I’ve never been more honored or privileged to be a part of such a moving moment. These two pledged a life of love poured over pages of vows that came right from their heart. As Kaylyn teared up saying her vows, Ethan with a grin of compassion and respect leaned over to hug his bride just to comfort her sweet spirit. This is their love. This is what comprises their two souls together. They said I DO and kissed under a setting sun, over the blue waters of this lake, that they would never forget to be their own special place.
We finished out shooting some incredible portraits with them and even ran into an elderly couple Jamie and Barbara, who were shooting on the mountains across the road from us. They have traveled over 40 years together on their annual trip for just them. They gave sincere and heartfelt advice to Kaylyn & Ethan to never forget to take time to spend on just the two of them, to travel together and to most of all celebrate their love always.
And as we drove back into town to a darkened skylight night, I at my part in their love story. I was blown away to be able to have captured this precious moment in their journey. I will never be able to say thank you for an unbelievable experience, one that I never even dreamed was possible. My heart is forever blessed by these two souls.
Kaylyn & Ethan I hope these images are markers for your story, and reminders always of the love you two share. A love no one else on this earth can replicate or replace. It’s beautiful. It will be one of the great stories to forever tell.
